The First Performance Pool Match in History
The first ever Performance Pool match was between The Monk and Monk Master Danny Propp. This was South Carolina against San Diego California. When we logged on for this match I really felt like I was in the finals of a big tournament. This game provides intense pressure in that you are always on the money ball.
Each player chooses seven cards for his opponent. I gave Danny a few twenty five pointers I did not think he could make. He returned the favor. He gave me two five pointers that are really tough. I created them because this type of shot is not only hard, but players think they can make it so they go for it twice and end up losing points.
After we receive our cards, we then returned two of them back to our opponent. He gave me a five pointer that has a built in scratch. If you scratch you must give up fifteen points to your opponent. I gave those five pointers right back to Danny.
Then we flipped the opening shot card and the match was on. After the first round I was ahead twenty to 0. I maintained my lead until I scratched and then he was tied with me. Once again I moved out in front and held a commanding lead. I succeeded on a twenty point discipline and decided not to try it the second time as I was safely in front. Then Danny came alive. He nailed a twenty five pointer twice! In that one card, he turned in fifty points to take a lead on me. I had two cards to play. I need to succeed on the twenty pointer and then twice on a five pointer to catch him in the end.
Now we had to go to over time. We tied on the first round, tied on the second round and I finally prevailed in triple overtime to take the first ever match in Performance Pool.
Danny really shot well. He was a tough opponent. Performance Pool is all it is meant to be. A fun game, a pressure game, a learning game. If you play Performance Pool for one year, it would be like taking two thousand dollars worth of lessons. You will master strokes and cue ball speed as you grow in this league. In this game you get to meet.
With one match down, I only have twenty nine more to go to qualify for the fifty thousand dollar tournament in the end of the season. (based on five hundred and twelve players.) To be honest, I am not going to compete in my own tournament. I am just playing to see how I am ranked on a national level.
